December Delight for Joe

Thornaby Judo Club are celebrating Christmas with gold, silver and bronze rather than the more traditional gold, frankincense and myrrh as their judo players returned from the recent Judo Mini Mons competition held at the Southlands Centre in Middlesbrough.
Jacob Papple was victorious in the under 27kg category and earned his place at the top of the podium after an impressive display. Jacobs gold was replicated by team mate Ben Eastwood in the under 31kg category whilst Daniel Greenwood with a silver in the under 40kg category and James McInnes with a bronze in the under 60kg completed a 4 medal haul for the Thornaby Club.
Club coach Joe Glynn said “All our club members have worked hard during the year and all our players are progressing. The children have earned a well deserved Christmas break but we will be back in 2012 training hard for our forthcoming tournaments.”
The club members train twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays 6.30-7.30pm at the Pavilion with a senior class available 7.30pm – 8.30pm on the same evenings.
Joe, who has been coaching for over 50 years added. “Judo is a fantastic sport for all ages; it is a great way to keep fit and teaches all participants self discipline and respect for others. We have the capacity to take on all newcomers and they will be greeted by a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
