Christ the King Deliver Knockout Performance
Thornaby Pool hosted a highly successful ‘It’s a Knockout’ competition with over 100 children attended this noisy and exciting event sponsored by Thornaby Town Council. Eight local primary schools from Thornaby and Ingleby Barwick took part in this fast and furious aquatic version of the popular 70’s gameshow, the only thing that was missing was the raucous laughter of Stuart Hall and Arthur Ellis’s dipstick.

The teams from Christ the King, Ingleby Mill, Mandale Mill, St Francis of Assisi, St Patricks, St Therese of Lisieux, Village Primary and Thornaby C of E, consisted of eight to ten children from each school, each team made up of at least 4 girls and 4 boys from year 5 and year 6.The children competed in races such as ‘Treasure Hunt’,’Obstacle Race’and ‘Raft Race’.
The team from Christ the King triumphed just pipping Ingleby Mill and St Therese to top spot. However, in this event every child was a winner as they all received a goody bag containing an apple, banana, orange, bottled water and two swim passes to use at Thornaby Pool.
Carol Grainger Tees Actives Swimming Development Manager said”The competition has been a fantastic success and has emphasised the point that swimming is great fun as well as being good for your health.
