Bronze in the Baltic

Stockton Wrestling Club and Tees Active Sports Academy members Tom Denham and Marcus Sudron both returned from the Baltic with bronze medals

The two teenagers were part of a Great Britain Development squad who were competing against 500 other international wrestlers from nations such as Russia,Spain ,Moldova,Georgia and the Baltic countries in Lithuania
Stockton Club coach Dave Sudron said “ This is a tremendous result for both Marcus and Tom as the competition was extremely tough and they had to fight some top quality opposition. The reputation of Stockton Wrestling Club is going from strength to strength”
Along with Toms bronze medal the 16 year old had another reason to celebrate as he has been offered a full time training position with the Great Britain elite squad which is based in Manchester. Tom will live in Manchester and train with the squad three times a day, six times a week as part of the world class training program working towards the Commonwealth games in 2014.
A delighted Tom said “ I will be travelling to Manchester this Sunday and I really excited to being part of the elite squad set up. I will be coached by the Great Britain coach Nikolai Kornyeyev.I will be training hard as I will be competing in the British Senior Championships in two weeks time”
Tom added “ My long term targets will be to represent Great Britain at the 2014 Commonwealth games and to qualify for the 2016 Olympics but I know I have a lot of hard work ahead of my to achieve these two targets.”
