British Debut for Brad

15-year-old Billingham boy Bradley Dixon will be representing Great Britain and competing at a World Championships in September.
Bradley who is a member of the Tees Active Sports Academy and Billingham Amateur Swimming Club qualified for the Biathle World Championships by finishing fourth in a time of 10.30.10 minutes at the recent British Biathle Championships for 15 to 16 year boys at Salford Quays
The Biathle competitors have to complete a 1000m run followed by a 200m swim and then back into their running shoes as they complete a final 1000m run.
The top four competitors have been automatically selected for the Great Britain team to compete at the World Biathle Championships in September. These Championships will also be staged at the Salford Quays
Multi talented Brad who trains 14 hours per week in the pool at Billingham Forum and 2 hours per week running is putting the finishing touches to his training this week as he prepares to compete in the 200m Butterfly at the Amateur Swimming Association Youth and National Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield this week
Modest Bradley said” It is a great honour to be representing my country. My immediate priority is to concentrate on my swimming and the nationals. Although I will be gearing my training after the nationals to the World Championships. The biggest rivals to the Great Britain team will come from the South Africans and the Italians but I am training hard and I am looking forward to performing well”.
