Three young Teessiders gained podium places at the Scottish National Age Group Swimming Championships. The swimmers Stephanie Blakeburn, Chris Wilkinson and Bradley Dixon who are all from the Billingham Amateur Swimming Club returned from Scotland after winning three Silver medals
The Championships were held over four days between March 30th and April 2nd at the Tallcross swimming pool in Glasgow. The Billingham swimmers faced tough competition with all the top clubs in Scotland and swimming clubs from as far a field as Portsmouth and Manchester taking part
Bradley Dixon a fifteen-year-old pupil at Northfield School and a member of the Tees Active Sports Academy gained his silver in the 200m Butterfly whilst fifteen year old Sacred Heart RC School pupil and Tees Active Sports Academy member Chris Wilkinson picked up his silver in the 100m freestyle.
Flying the flag for the girl’s,twelve-year-old Northfield School pupil Stephanie Blakeburn turned in a superb performance to finish second in the 100m freestyle
Guy Fawkes Billingham Amateur Swimming Club coach said, “We went to Scotland with the hope of possibly making a few finals. Billingham made nine finals and a special mention should go to Gareth Allen who made the 200m final and Amy Roberts who produced five long course personal bests. Along with the fantastic performances produced by Chris, Brad and Stephanie this has been a very successful meet
