Beth in Action (beth rowing.jpg)Local rower Beth Bryan has just returned from an intensive training camp with the Great Britain Junior rowing team.16 year old Beth who is part of British Rowing Siemans World Class Start Programme and a member of Tees Active Sports Academy was selected as part of the top sixteen under 18 rowers in the country to attend the camp in Nantes, France.

Beth and the other potential Great Britain Junior team members were put through their paces at the camp as she and the other squad members trained up to four times per day with water sessions on the River Loire and indoor sessions in the gym.

Beth a pupil at Egglescliffe School was introduced to rowing 2 years ago after been identified by British Rowing as having the physical attributes to become a top class rower. She is now on the World Class Start programme and trains twice a day whilst based at the Tees Rowing Club.

Beth has been coached by Nathan Adams for the past 2 years but Nathan has recently taken a new position working for the Irish Amateur Rowing Union and is now being coached by British Rowing North East Talent Development Coach James Harris. 

Beth said “The camp was tough but really enjoyable. I was delighted to be selected for the squad and my main aim is to gain selection and become an established member of the Great Britain junior team.”

Her coach James Harris added “Beth has been making great strides and is progressing well. Our main aim for 2010 is to gain selection for the Great Britain Junior team and compete at the Junior World Championships in the Czech Republic.”
