Are You Up for the Olympic Challenge?

Tees Active is developing a range of activities and events to celebrate the summer Olympic Games in London. Tees Active will be offering free taster sessions in 5 targeted sports which include swimming, badminton, wrestling, judo and gymnastics.

Each month from March Tees Active will be delivering taster sessions and events of one of the above sports which will enable participants both young and old to participate and learn more about one of the Olympic sports and possibly win an attractive prize.

Alongside the 5 targeted sports the Tees Barrage International White Water Centre will be staging a couple of events that companies and organisations may wish to enter. ‘Terror on the Tees’ or our very own Kayaking It’s a Knockout Competition are competitions that will appeal to teams that are up for a challenge.

Terror on the Tees will involve 6 willing participants negotiating the rapids of the barrage in a raft, although they will be under the guidance of a qualified raft leader. Each team will complete 3 timed runs to discover which team will take the Terror on the Tees title.

The kayaking It’s a knockout competition will involve a safety and basic skills introduction then you will be let loose to negotiate obstacles and complete tasks that will probably involve getting wet but will be great fun.

Allan McDermott, Tees Active Sports Academy Manager said “2012 is a huge year for sport in the United Kingdom and Tees Active is developing a range of activities and events to help people celebrate this year of sport. The events at the Tees Barrage International White Water centre will be great fun and are aimed at groups with a sense of adventure and fun.”
