Emily Fields (Emily Field in action.jpg)Billingham teenager Emily Fields is celebrating her first international call up after being selected to represent the Great Britain Catholic Schools athletics team.

Emily a pupil at St Michaels R C School in Billingham competes for Middlesbrough Mandale Athletics club and is a member of Tees Active Sports Academy.

This talented teenager will be competing at the International Catholic Student Games in Tours, France to be held between the 5th-11th July. The Games will have athletes from Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal, Hungary and France competing

Emily who has been selected to compete to compete in the 800m, 1500m, 300m and the relay said “I have competed at the English Schools cross country and track and field championships but being selected for the games is extra special and I can not wait to be part of an international line up.”

Peter Bowman Head of PE at St Michaels School said “Emily’s selection for the Great Britain Catholic Schools athletics team is a tremendous honour for Emily and St Michaels. Emily has worked extremely hard during her time at St Michaels and I am sure she will benefit from this international experience.”

Emily added “It is a tremendous honour to be representing my country. The hours of hard training have paid off. I would like to thank the dedication of my coach Stan Markley who has made huge commitments to help me.”
