Active Start Term Time

STOCKTON’S kids will start the school term with a whole host of new activities to choose from courtesy of Tees Active.

Term-time activities on offer include Amazing World of Fit Club (A.W.O.F.), Artworx, Team Combat and Waterworld.

A.W.O.F. is a new range of sports hall-based, fun activities aimed at children from five to eleven years old. Equipment such as parachutes, beanbags and space hoppers are used to create imaginary worlds and situations to feed the children’s imagination whilst they exercise.

Pool-based activity Waterworld is aimed at children able to swim 25 metres or more. Props and coaching techniques allow children to enjoy such activities as Harry Potter’s Quidditch and James Bond-esque scenarios.

For the more creative child, Artworx is an art and craft based session with sticky, messy activities.

Martial arts is the theme for Team Combat. Aimed at six to fifteen year olds, games such as ‘Bruce Lee balls’, ‘razor sharp’ and choreographed routines help get children fit whilst they have fun.

The Active Start activities are supervised by qualified coaches who combine the latest physiological research with a creative imagination to make exercise enjoyable for the youngsters. “Our Active Start programme is a completely new and exciting way of helping your child into healthy, social activity,” said Tees Active’s Active Life Manager Gail McKenna.

“We can’t wait for term time to arrive!”

The Active Start activities are available at Active Life Centres in the Stockton area. For more information and contact details, please contact your local Active Life Centre.
