Academy Celebrates its First Olympian

Tees Active Sports Academy was proud to honour it first Olympic athlete, swimmer Jemma Lowe by presenting her with an Olympic flag

Jemma has qualified for the Beijing Olympics after breaking the British record in the 100m and 200m butterfly at British Swimmings Olympic trials in Sheffield. Jemma continued her good form at the World Short Course Championships when she won a bronze medal in the 100m Butterfly. Fellow Academy athlete Jessica Dickons also won a bronze medal at the championships in the 200m butterfly.

The Academy which was launched 2 years ago offers a variety of free support services to talented young athletes in the Stockton on Tees area.
