Academy Aces Receive Top Treatment
The members of Tees Active Sports Academy are now able to access musculo-skeletal screening as part of the package of benefits available to them. The Academy, which consists of 40 of the most talented young athletes in the area, has arranged a rolling programme of examinations over the next few months for its members with the Evening Gazette Business in Sport winners, Teesside Sports Injury Centre.
The aim of the assessment is to identify potential problems associated with posture, strength, flexibility and patterns of movement that may contribute to injury. The screening process, which is performed by Jason Hynd at the Billingham Forum site of the Teesside Sports Injury Centre, includes standardised tests and depending on the results of the assessments Jason can prescribe appropriate exercises to help prevent injury or ultimately increase or improve performance.
Sports Therapist Jason said, ”With London 2012 approaching Tees Active have the vision to provide world class support for the areas most talented young athletes. I feel privileged to be helping them maintain their rigorous training and ability to compete during their growth and development.”
Allan McDermott, Tees Active Sports Academy Manager said, “We are delighted to link up with somebody of Jason’s expertise. These young athletes are putting their bodies through enormous strain at a time in their life when their bodies are growing which increases the likelihood of injury. With Jason’s help we will keep them healthy and competing at the highest level.”
