Watersports - Barrage

Barrage Entrance (Entrance to Barrage - web.jpg)Welcome to Tees Barrage White Water Course

The Centre is ideally placed to provide canoeing to a broad range of paddlers from complete beginners to Olympic aspirants and white water rafting across the community.

The Tees Barrage White Water Course is currently closed due to a 4.6 million pound redevelopment to turn the site into a world-class facility.

Funded through a partnership including, ONE north East, Stockton Council, Tees Active, British Waterways, Middlesbrough Council and Sport England, It includes redesigning the main course, building a second shorter course and installing four large 12m long by 3m diameter Archimedes Screws to create guaranteed conditions for canoeists and rafters. When not used to pump water around the course, the pumps will use excess river water to generate electricity, helping the course to be sustainable in energy terms.

We will aim to keep you updated with all the latest information about the re-development. Please check this page regularly for updates.

The centre reception is available for further information. Tel: 01642 528689
