Swimming

Because the human body is made up of 70 per cent water, we're rather good at floating. This is why you get a feeling of weightlessness when you're swimming. It's also why swimming is a great form of low-impact exercise.

Swimming is a great cardiovascular workout, and elevates the heart and respiratory rates, improving overall health for everyone.

When you swim, you exercise all of the muscles in your body and burn about the same number of calories as you would by walking fast or jogging slowly. It also eases pressure on the back and legs - which take a fair pummelling in most other forms of activity. So let's get splashing!

Swimming does it all!

It’s great for your health, it’s a fun activity and most importantly it’s the only sport that can save your life.

As you may be aware the Government has announced that as part of its budget reduction exercise the existing free swim initiative which it was funding for under 16’s and the over 60’s will cease from 31st July. Therefore unfortunately from this date onwards the usual prices will apply but there are a number of payment options available to assist you in continuing swimming.
